Big Rock Partners, which is an opportunistic real estate private equity fund, was created in 2004 and launched as an independent vehicle in 2006 by Richard Ackerman. Prior to founding Big Rock Partners, Mr. Ackerman was the Head of the Los Angeles office of Apollo Real Estate Advisors, a global private equity firm that has invested over $7 billion of equity. Mr. Ackerman oversaw all investments in the West Coast of the United States and in Japan. Mr. Ackerman's team joined him in the formation of a joint venture with a $5 billion multi-strategy institutional investment manager, which was the foundation for Big Rock Partners. To date, the fund has managed over $800 million of assets.
In their previous responsibilities, the principals have acquired, developed, financed in excess of $10 billion in commercial real estate and have demonstrated an ability to understand and structure complex situations. The principals have a combined track record of over 50 years in the real estate business including roles as senior executives of public REITs, investment management firms and private real estate firms.
